We were asked to help a premium services law firm create deeper customer understanding and connection through the power of storytelling.

Approach

Kelley | Uustal is unlike other personal injury law firms. They are a national leader in consumer advocacy, their team is uniquely trained in a proprietary forensic discovery process, and they serve each client with deep compassion, oftentimes building lasting relationships. Yet, despite their reputation and capabilities, they were struggling to stand out in a sea of personal injury law firms. Peopledesign reached out to Baas as a partner to help create a film series that would differentiate the K|U brand and communicate their unique expertise.

Together, we crafted a brand narrative that is rooted in a series of short films that share the stories of five individuals’ unique journeys to justice. We conducted preliminary interviews to gain understanding and shaped each story arc to serve the larger brand story. Once the narrative was established, we meticulously crafted visuals, storyboarded, produced, filmed, and edited. Throughout the entire process, we worked closely with each person to understand their experience and help them articulate what personal victory meant to them. By starting with empathy and carefully layering in the principles of story structure, we were able to craft an authentic, cohesive and emotionally poignant series that speaks volumes about Kelley | Uustal.

Result

The film series went on to win multiple awards, including a national Addy Award, and it has served as a lasting piece that honors the journey of each family and captures the heart behind K|U’s work. As the centerpiece of K|U’s communication strategy, these films have positioned K|U as a premier law firm who is a compassionate and effective partner for individuals seeking justice.
